Yeah, i've been slacking a bit in the last week except for late at night where i had to catch up on my 18.34 posts a day!

Here is what i've been up to lately, i made and glued the end and neck block, repaired some cracks on my sides with HHG, built a go bar deck a la Pat Foster(thanks bud), made my own kerfed linings and glued half of them tonight. I also glued my rough braces onto the underside of the top with HHG which was my first trial and i had way too much squeeze out, if someone knows how to clean up dried HHG, pleas let me know, it's rather embarrassing! My bridge patch is a piece of purple heart!

Ok, let's see some piccys!

End and neck blocks

Here's a shot of the first set of linings i had made out of black ash but had to discard because of weight issues

Some more of the neck block

The go bar deck construction and the mess from sawing them go bar rods and braces

What a mess, try to beat that!

Here is how i made my kerfed lining as per some advice from Mario.

The kerfed strips are a cookin'! Loves ma bender!

My messy braces

The glueing of the kerfed strips, i just had enough clips and clamps to do them on one side, gotta buy me some more one of these days!

Adding to the fact that i found time to meet Shane twice and Alain once during this last week, i think it's fair enough to say that i did pretty ok huh?

Thanks for watching my big brothers!

Serge

Thanks Dave and Larry,

Dave, the go bar deck was easy to make, the top is 2 layers of 1/2" GLUED MDF, the bottom plates were salvaged from some old living room furniture, it has 4-1/2" threaded rods and just oversized tubing to help lock it all tight! i'm thinking of securing it on top of that purple rolling table with shelves to make it easier to move around.

Larry, i'm sure you still beat me on speed, this was done over a week period, i still have a couple of jigs to make prior to finishing this one! Tha bunny thing for me must be in the posting tho, i'm almost at 2500 posts!

Hesh buddy, i was wondering if you were ever gonna show up!

Thanks bud, i finally see signs of a guitar, it's really encouraging! Still gotta make a few jigs but it's coming all right, once all my jigs are well made, no 3 should be faster or a bit easier than this one that i enjoy BTW!

are you still on your trip to San Diego? Back home?

Hola budy! That's looking great! The easiest way to clean up HHG is about 15-20 minutes after you've clamped it up. It's like jello at that point and you just need to scrape it off with a knife/chisel/piece of wood... You can remove it without a trace. Now that it's dried up, just us a clean rag and boiling water... Damped the rag (just a little bit) and keep it on the glue. It should loosen up quickly enough. Do just a little spot at a time. Keep a hair drier handy. Once you've taken away the excess glue, dry up the spot immediately with the drier (this step is important) ... Or you can heat up the dried glue with the drier and rub with the damp rag. Either way will work.

Compliments on the Go-Bar deck, Bud! That should keep the Bears' shop a "Boing Free Zone"!

Is that 5/8"(15.7mm)or 1/2"(12.6mm) thread stock? Can't tell from here.

Hey! Where's the beer drink'in alien poster?

Thanks Billy and Carlton!

Billy, the thread stock is 1/2" inside the tubing as per Pat Foster's go bar deck photo he showed in his tutorial and my beer drinking alien was drinking behind my back! Thanks dude!

Carlton, yeah, sure is, i just completed the glueing of the kerfing tonight and made some side braces too, it's getting closer! Thanks

Serge

Go Serge It's looking good. hmm...where's the inlay? Just kidding. It's always more inspiration when it actually starts looking like a guitar though isn't it? You're building something you should be very proud of there Serge.
